David Wachsman is a world-renowned blockchain expert and thought leader. He is a regular speaker at the most visible technology conferences and is frequently featured by premier media outlets globally.
In 2015, David founded Wachsman to provide public relations support to the rapidly growing bitcoin ecosystem. Wachsman has since expanded to become a leading global professional services firm for the blockchain industry, with more than 110 employees working from offices in New York, Dublin, and Singapore. David and his team have represented and acted as strategic consultants to more than 120 of the most indispensable organizations in blockchain including Dash, Indiegogo, Crypto Valley Association, Bitcoin Suisse, CoinDesk, IOHK, Lisk, Rootstock, Steemit, tZERO, Aeternity, Polymath, Horizen, eToro, Aion, Jaxx, Neo Global Capital, and Aelf, among others. Before founding Wachsman, David led the day-to-day operations for a boutique public relations agency in Manhattan and held roles in advertising, political affairs, and biotechnology.
Michael leads the Wachsman Strategic Advisory Group in New York.
Michael brings over a decade of investment banking experience advising Fortune 100 corporations, private equity sponsors, family offices, and venture capital investors. Most recently, he was a Senior Vice President in the Technology Investment Banking Group at Jefferies. He founded and led the Jefferies blockchain coverage effort, where he developed and executed strategies for clients including technology companies, institutional investors, and emerging blockchain companies.
Prior to Jefferies, Michael was a Director in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Vice President at Citigroup, where he collectively advised on over US$40 billion in M&A and capital raising transactions.
Michael received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with Honors of Highest Distinction from University of California, San Diego and a Master of Business Administration from Cornell University, where he was a Roy H. Park Leadership Fellow.
Franklin is Associate Director of the Wachsman Strategic Advisory Group.
Franklin brings seven years of industry expertise to the company, most recently as Vice President and Blockchain Strategy Lead for J.P. Morgan’s Blockchain Center for Excellence. There, he pioneered J.P. Morgan’s initial assessment of blockchain technology in 2015, co-authored the J.P. Morgan report, “Unlocking Economic Advantage with Blockchain: A guide for asset managers,” and played a role in key initiatives such as J.P. Morgan’s Quorum project, crypto-asset strategy, and consortia engagement. Previously, he worked on corporate strategy and business development for J.P. Morgan’s Corporate & Investment Bank, executing on high-priority growth initiatives with senior executives across a range of products and functions.
Prior to his tenure at J.P. Morgan, Franklin served as an Investment Analyst for ff Venture Capital, a top-performing seed- and early-stage venture capital firm located in New York City.
Franklin received a Bachelor of Science in Economics from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Derek joined Wachsman in January 2018 after six years as an options broker on the New York Stock Exchange. Derek worked for three years each at NYSE-AMEX in New York and NYSE-ARCA in San Francisco, executing trades for clients ranging from broker-dealers, to banks, to hedge funds.
Derek graduated from Fordham University where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. Derek holds three financial industry certifications: Series 7, Series 56, and Series 63.
Reid joined Wachsman in July 2017. Previously, Reid worked as a Researcher for the Democratic National Committee, as well as a Health Care Group Aide for a global law firm, where he focused on financial and legal forensics and supported senior lobbyists.
Daryl joined Wachsman in July 2018. Previously, Daryl worked as a Management Consultant at A.T. Kearney, where he advised senior executives on top strategic and operational issues. His work with leading global companies included advisory for growth, go-to-market initiatives, and digital business strategy and transformation.
Prior to A.T. Kearney, Daryl worked as a Strategy Intern at DigitasLBI and a Private Equity Intern at a Iron Range Capital Partners.
Daryl received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with honors at the University of Chicago.
Mr. O'Connell is an award-winning and internationally recognized technologist, publisher, and visionary. Dennis started his career as an Aerospace Engineer at NASA Langley where he was nationally selected among thousands of top candidates for only six positions. While there he worked on advanced technologies and began his love of technology and innovation. Dennis’ then moved on to financial markets where he worked for a hedge fund, as an algorithmic trader and quantitative analyst. He then moved to Chicago where he worked on several trading desks in the futures and derivatives markets. While in Chicago, Dennis’ co-founded his first company winning national media attention and participation at the top real estate technology incubator Elmspring at 1871.
Building on his success Dennis then co-founded his second company winning national awards from Microsoft and an international award from ESRI for efforts in advancing cloud and big data real estate technology solutions. Dennis has emerged as a seasoned Chief Technology Officer, thought leader, writer, and visionary. With the onset of the Blockchain revolution, Dennis pivoted his career to capture the emerging opportunities. Dennis has since placed as a finalist in a major banks Global Innovation Initiative for his team's real-world Blockchain solution using R3 Corda, and won for the best real-world blockchain solution. Dennis has given keynote speeches in Silicon Valley on Blockchain in the enterprise and is looking forward to an exciting year of speaking across the world.
Dennis was recently inducted into the Forbes Technology Council for his demonstrated excellence in Technology leadership. Dennis received his Masters in Aerospace Engineering from Old Dominion University and a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from the College of New Jersey, both graduating with high honors. Dennis is a Distinguished Eagle Scout and has been nationally recognized for his contributions to scouting.
Mr. Spencer advises corporations and individuals on legal and compliance matters, focusing on digital currency and blockchain matters since 2014. As a former federal prosecutor and as a General Counsel for a leading digital currency company, Mr. Spencer is uniquely qualified to represent his clients in establishing and evaluating compliance programs, in interacting with government regulators and law enforcement, and in negotiating with strategic partners or competitors.
Mr. Spencer has represented numerous digital currency and blockchain clients. He has appeared before the SEC, CFTC, IRS, FinCEN, FBI, the United States Attorney’s Office, and dozens of state and local regulators and law enforcement agencies. He has successfully handled broad, ongoing roles, such as a General Counsel position, overseeing all legal and compliance matters for a digital currency money services business in the United States. He has also represented clients in specific assignments, including federal trials, subpoena responses, IRS and FinCEN compliance audits, and drafting an application for the New York Bitlicense.
Mr. Spencer served as an Assistant United States Attorney for ten years. He specialized in securities and financial fraud and money laundering and prosecuted more than 100 federal cases. Among his high profile cases, he prosecuted Merrill Lynch bankers involved in the Enron collapse, a South American casa de cambio for violations of the Bank Secrecy Act, and obtained one of the longest sentences ever imposed by a federal judge for money laundering violations.
Drawing on his background as a cryptocurrency lawyer and federal prosecutor, Mr. Spencer frequently speaks and writes about digital currency, blockchain technologies, and emerging regulatory and enforcement trends. Prior to founding his own firm, Mr. Spencer was a partner at the Akin Gump and Haynes & Boone law firms and an investment banker at Morgan Stanley. He graduated from Amherst College and the University of Texas Law School.
John Beccia is Co-Founder and CEO of FS Vector LLC, a Washington DC-based advisory firm which provides a broad range of solutions for financial services, fintech, and cryptocurrency firms. He was most recently General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Circle Internet Financial, Inc., a global crypto finance company that is seeking to help change the global economy.
Mr. Beccia previously served as Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for Boston Private Financial Holdings, Inc., a publicly traded bank holding company. He was also Assistant General Counsel for Investors Bank & Trust Company and Chief Regulatory Counsel and Research Director for The Financial Services Roundtable where he was responsible for all regulatory affairs and assisted with legislative efforts for the trade association.
Mr. Beccia is currently an Adjunct Professor at Boston University School of Law. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Providence College, a J.D. from Roger Williams University School of Law, and an LLM in Banking and Financial Law from Boston University School of Law.
