On Monday June 19, ID2020, an extraordinary public-private organization dedicated to providing the global population access to an officially recognized and digital identity, hosted the “Platform for Change” summit at the U.N. Headquarters in New York, NY. The summit attracted over 400 attendees, including leading minds in the tech, humanitarianism, and government space, all collaborating on solving a problem currently affecting more than 1.1 billion people around the world.
Wachsman was honored to join ID2020 Executive Director Dakota Gruener one month before the summit to help promote the event, secure press coverage, and proliferate ID2020’s mission and goals. During that time, Wachsman conducted worked hand-in-hand with the ID2020 team, preparing press releases, conducting media alerts, and inviting media to attend a day of great promise.The partnered members of the ID2020 Alliance consisted of the most renowned institutions in technology, including PwC, Accenture, and Microsoft. Wachsman was able to support ID2020’s core messaging and announcements from each stakeholder. Amongst the most noteworthy was Microsoft and Accenture’s joint announcement of developing an identity prototype that will be based on biometrics and blockchain technology. During the summit, it was also announced that ID2020 will be backed by a $1 million USD grant from Accenture and a $275,000 USD grant from The Rockefeller Foundation. The resulting press from the event has already yielded sponsorship interest from organizations who want to contribute to ID2020’s mission.
