2017 saw tremendous growth in the blockchain space, as well as for Wachsman. As the market capitalization of all cryptocurrencies soared from $18 billion USD to about $600 billion USD, the revolutionary blockchain technology behind it has tackled some of the most pressing problems in a variety of industries, from supply chain to finance to fashion. Over the past year, Wachsman had the privilege of crafting strategic communications strategies for many of the leading companies in this industry, while expanding beyond public relations to also offer events and advisory support to our clients. In 2017, we had the chance to work with dozens of new clients, grown to a staff of 33, opened a European headquarters — and look forward to further expansion in 2018.
Working with more than 50 of the leading companies in the blockchain sector, our clients include several of the top 20 cryptocurrencies by market cap, and many of the world’s most innovative blockchain-powered projects. Wachsman has assisted these companies in developing targeted media relations campaigns that have played a significant role in supporting clients achieve their long-term goals, particularly public awareness and positive media attention. It has been a privilege to play a role in the growth of many of these industry leaders from the beginning of their journeys and to establish long-standing partnerships with them.
In New York, Wachsman moved offices in October 2017 to 40 Exchange Place. At the corner of William Street and Exchange Place, the new office, at 6,000 square feet, is certainly sizable enough to accommodate our growing staff. In the latter half of 2017, the New York office welcomed 16 new staff members, including a Director of Operations, a Human Resources Generalist, an Events team, and numerous public relations professionals.
In April 2017, Wachsman opened its European headquarters in Dublin and has since grown to a staff of 12, including a number of PR professionals and an Events Manager who leads our global team. Like its New York counterpart, the Irish office also changed premises to a new headquarters located in Dublin’s Digital Exchange, a growing center for innovative technology companies in the heart of the historic Liberties district. Wachsman’s European home has more than tripled in size to accommodate present and future growth.
Wachsman was also privileged to attend and assist in organizing some of the leading blockchain and cryptocurrency conferences around the globe. In addition to sponsoring the San Francisco Bitcoin Meetup, members of our team were present at Money 20/20 in Las Vegas, the ICO Summit in Zurich, Blockchain and Bitcoin Conference in Stockholm, Consensus Invest in New York, the Dash Conference in London, and Token Summit in San Francisco, among a number of other high-profile events in the space.
In the new year, we are moving ahead with a rebrand from “Wachsman PR” to “Wachsman” to better represent the multifaceted services, such as advisory and events support, that we offer our clients. As we move forward in 2018, we are poised for another monumental year for the blockchain space and for our incredible clients.
